چکیده

Summii1stary. Low concentrations of indole-3-acetic acid inhibit the growth of pea root sections by indticing the formation of the growth regtilator, ethylene gas. Ethylene is produced within 15 to 30 minutes after inidole-3-acetic acid is applied and roots begin to swell immediately after they are exposed to the gas. Carbon dioxide competitively inhibits ethylene action in roots, impedles their geotropic response, and partially reinstates autxin inhibited growth. It is concluided that ethyleile participates in the geotropic response of roots, bult not that of stems.

An explanation of the inhibition of root growth caused by indole-3-acetic Acid.

Low concentrations of indole-3-acetic acid inhibit the growth of pea root sections by inducing the formation of the growth regulator, ethylene gas. Carbon dioxide competitively inhibits ethylene action in roots, impedes their geotropic respon...

Bioproduction of Indole Acetic Acid by Rhizobium Strains Isolated from Root Nodules of Green Manure Crop, Sesbania sesban (L.) Merr.

Twenty six Rhizobium strains were isolated from root nodules of Sesbania sesban (L.) Merr. collected from different regions of Andhra Pradesh. All the 26 Rhizobium strains produced indole acetic acid (IAA), but maximum amount was produced by only five strains in yeast extract mannitol  (YEM) medium supplemented with L-tryptophan. The strains were found to elaborate maximum IAA when fed with 2.5...

Synthesis and biological activities of 4-trifluoromethylindole-3-acetic acid: a new fluorinated indole auxin.

In our studies on the development of new promoters for the root formation of tree cuttings, 4-trifluoromethylindole-3-acetic acid (4-CF(3)-IAA), a new fluorinated auxin, was synthesized via 4-trifluoromethylindole and 4-trifluoromethylindole-3-acetonitrile by using 2-methyl-3-nitrobenzotrifluoride as the starting material. As a control compound for comparing biological activities, 4-methylindol...

Does ethylene mediate root growth inhibition by indole-3-acetic Acid?

The effects of ethylene and of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) on growth of excised pea root sections have been compared under a variety of conditions. After 16 hours treatment the inhibitory action of IAA is fully reversible on transfer of the root sections to IAA-free solutions. In contrast, inhibition by ethylene is almost totally irreversible. IAA inhibits growth from zero time; ethylene is gene...

Isolation and characterization of plant growth-promoting bacteria from Syrian bean caper (Zygophyllum fabago) rhizosphere

Some rhizobacteria have positive effects on plants growth. Syrian bean-caper (Zygophyllum fabago) is a weed plant with medicinal value. This study was conducted to isolate and identify bacteria from Syrian bean-caper rhizosphere. Characteristics associated with plant growth stimulation, such as phosphate and zinc dissolution, production of Indole acetic acid and antifungal activity, were invest...
